The Handmade Hideaway- The Process

Updated: Jun 13

This was my first 'big' project and learning curve on how I refined the logo design process and started to figure out what was working and what wasn't working. This business was another local start up in Anglesey wanting to start up in handmade products in a mobile vehicle was the initial brief. The first lot of logos lacked personality and did not resonate with the businesses at all!

So this is what I did and learnt on how I could work towards it resonating with the business.

We set up a meeting and this was the first proper meeting I had with a client so quite nerve racking but I was excited to talk to them! But what I did after learning they wanted a more whimsical approach.

You can see above the initial ideas on the far left so quite a contrast to what I pulled up for reference on the far right. I worked on various colour palettes and unique fonts that I felt could work but this is just to see what direction we were planning to go in.

This was a sketch given in the middle of meet up and I immediately click what they wanted so even now, I appreciate a good sketch up if clients have something in mind. But this all I need to understand the primary logo and I can work with that. So don't fret if you much of a brief either that's why the brand questionnaire is there too!

So from this I got to work! A lot of my designs are hand drawn as seen in the video and this was the final result!

So from working on this project, I found exploring options together worked well and working with a limited brief is achievable especially with new businesses on Anglesey. But I really love working this project and this was just the individual logo but from this I learnt how to approach clients and finding what works. Not all processes will be the same but we'll get there!

Check out below to see how it's developed
